Mississippi Valley Equipment Managers provide excellent local education

I had the opportunity to attend and speak at the Mississippi Valley GCSA Equipment Managers education session near St. Louis. The chapter has been a model of providing educational opportunities for EMs over several years. The keynote address this session focused on fuel injection and what to expect working on these engines. The 25 attendees were attentive and engaged.

The "Big Three" manufacturers were also represented and provided information and practical experience. The chapter has held successful sessions allowing attendees to see equipment and identify parts, which can lead to discovering "why" problems occur. Knowing the "why" will help equipment managers focus on solving the problem. This is essential in eliminating downtime with equipment. A facility will be successful with a well-educated, dedicated equipment manager.

We look forward to seeing continued success with equipment managers at the local and national level. Also this month, the Equipment Manager Task Group met at GCSAA headquarters to help shape educational and professional opportunities.

Superintendents: Continue to engage your equipment manager. Get them involved. GCSAA and local chapters are here to help.
